For the past month, we dove into our first Street Witnessing Intracity Ministry (S.W.I.M.) lesson of the year at CCDM—Gospel Reset. This engaging initiative has not only provided us with valuable insights into sharing the gospel with our family and friends, but also encouraged us to take the gospel to strangers wherever we meet. Designed by Ken Ham of Answers in Genesis, who is renowned for his commitment to biblical teachings, the program features one of the main speakers of the Living Water's Ambassador's Academy, which I attended this past June—Cory McKenna of The Cross Current.

What is Gospel Reset?

Gospel Reset is a cutting-edge approach to evangelism. A four-session, video-based curriculum that challenges and inspires us to start fresh in approaching friends and family about their relationship with Jesus.

The gospel message never changes. However, in our modern culture, where atheism is increasingly popular and Christian foundations are almost non-existent, we need to reevaluate how we communicate the soul-saving truth of Jesus Christ. Because we live in a modern and secular Greek culture, we have to change our approach to include creation and introduce people who do not know Jesus to the God who created all life, as Paul did in Acts 17. Some of the topics included:

  1. The reasons why we need a gospel reset in a secularized society devoid of God, the Bible, and Jesus Christ.

  2. Cultivate a flawless gospel presentation from the beginning of creation to the Consumation of the new heavens and new earth.

  3. Use the three eternal questions as a conversation starter with your friends and family.

  4. Rebuild the foundation using the 7 C's of History — a synopsis of the entire Bible from beginning to end.

  5. Use the Law (the Ten Commandments) and the gospel to help formulate a testimony to transform our witness with those we love and care the most.

We had twenty people sign up (19 from Calvary Chapel Des Moines) to take the course, and each week the group became increasingly engaged with the course material. It was so encouraging to me as I facilitated the class each week, answered questions, and explained the gospel of Jesus Christ in even greater depth.

Here is a taste of what we went over:
